Rights of One Muslim to Another

Islam, by the way, has assigned a number of rights of one Muslim to another.  But the six rights are the most significant. Comes in Hadith Sharif.  The Prophet (SAW) said: “A Muslim has six rights over a Muslim. When you meet him, say salaam. When he calls you, go to him. When he asks you for goodwill, say good to him. When he sneezes and says ” الحمد الله ” , say to him ‘‘ یَرْحَمُکَ  الله  ’’ . When he is ill, inquire about his illness, and when he dies, go with his funeral.” [Sahih Muslim]

Replying to Salaam:

Salam alaikum is a definite Sunnah and is one of the important means of creating love and affection among Muslims. In the Qur’an, the Allah Almighty has said: “When a person salaam you, saalam him in a better way or respond to him in the same words”.
This means that the best thing to do is to respond in a way that is better than the words in which a person has greeted you. For example, if he has just said, “اسلام علیکم ” the answer should be, “’’وعلیکم السلام ورحمۃ اللہ‘‘ ,” and if he has said, ” ’’السلام علیکم ورحمۃ اللہ‘‘ ,” then the answer should be, “وعلیکم السلام ورحمۃ اللہ وبرکات.” But it is also acceptable to answer in the same words, but it is a sin not to respond to the greetings of a Muslim at all.

Visiting the patient:

The second right of a Muslim is that if he falls ill, he should be questioned. The purpose of visiting the patient and inquiring about his illness is to pray for him. To encourage him, to make him happy and to alleviate his illness. Assessing the patient helps to know the needs of the patient. Such as the need to take him to a doctor, or the need for a medicine, or the problem of lack of expenses at home.

Following the funeral:

The third right of a Muslim is to go after his funeral when he dies. Just as it is necessary for a Muslim to pay some dues to another Muslim in life. So it is his right to Muslims even after his death. It is necessary and obligatory to follow his funeral prayers.

Accepting the invitation:

The fourth right of a Muslim is to accept his invitation. The purpose of which is also the kindness and encouragement of a Muslim. Hazrat Ziyad bin Anam Al-Afriqi (may Allah be pleased with him) says:

“We were traveling in the sea in the time of Hazrat Mu’awiyah when our boat came across the boat of Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari. When our lunch came, we invited him (to eat food). Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari came to us and said that you have called me, but I have fast. But still I will definitely accept your invitation. Because I have heard the Holy Prophet saying: “A Muslim has six obligatory rights over his brother. If one of them work leaves , he will be giving up his brother’s obligatory rights (one of them is that) when he invites him to eat, he must accept it”.

Responding to sneezing:

The fifth right of a Muslim is that when he sneezes and says “الحمدﷲ” on it. The other should say “یرحمک اللہ” in reply that it is obligatory. On the one hand, it asks Allah Almighty for mercy on his behalf. On the other hand, it lays the foundation for mutual love and brotherhood, and promotes Islamic teachings in the society.

Good well:

The goodwill of the Muslim brothers is necessary in all circumstances.

It comes in hadith:

وَيَنْصَحُ لَهُ ذِذَا غَابَ أَوْ شَهِدَ

“Whether he is present or absent, let him be well.” [Hadith: 2737]

That is, if he is present, he should not give false praise, flattery and hypocrisy, he should not give wrong advice, he should not deceive. If he is absent, he should not gossip, he should not gossip, he should not slander. Think of the good,  If a Muslim brother asks for advice, then give him the right advice .

The purpose of fulfilling these rights and duties of Muslims towards each other is to ensure that Muslims get along well with each other in their social and communal life. Understand your sorrow, and let all Muslims live in harmony with each other.
