It is a beloved attribute of Allah. As Human beings are not perfect. Therefore, forgiveness is an important aspect of Islam as everybody makes mistakes in life. And they unintentionally commits sins. Muslims believe that Allah is Merciful and Forgiving. Whoever forgive others from the heart then Allah will bless him a reward. We know Allah’s rewards are best from all. Forgiveness mentioned in the Qur’an many times. Allah says in Qur’an:
“Get in the habit of forgiving, Order good deeds, And turn away from the ignorant.” [ Surah: Al-A’raaf :199]
Forgiveness According to Quran:
Throughout the Holy Qur’an, the Mercy of Allah and His Forgiveness mentioned 200 and 100 times respectively. We all know that Allah is the Most Merciful and He forgives those who ask forgiveness again and again. There are so many Verses related to forgiveness in Qur’an. Some of them we will discuss here: Allah says in Qur’an:
“And if you punish, then punish as you have been afflicted, and if you are patient, then patience is best for the patient”.
This verse shows that it is permissible to take revenge on the oppressor. But in spite of being able to take revenge on the oppressor, it is better and more rewarding to be patient and forgive him. In another place, Allah Almighty says about the same thing:
“And the recompense of evil is equal to evil. So whoever forgives and makes amends, his reward is with Allah. Indeed, He does not like the unjust”.
Forgiveness According to Hadith’s:
Like the Holy Qur’an, in the hadiths We have so many examples from the life of Prophet (SAW) about forgiving others and show kindness to even those who were so rude to Him.
Our beloved Prophet (SAW) was so kind and forgiving with all no matter he is a Muslim or non-Muslim. Some of the examples from the life of Holy Prophet (SAW) are mentioned here:
The attribute of forgiveness is very prominent in the biography of the Holy Prophet (SAW). He has no rival in this virtue. This aspect of the Holy Prophet’s life is so important. That despite the atrocities, insults and insults of the people, the Holy Prophet forgave them all. So, the same arrogant, disrespectful and cruel people came in a row. And after receiving the amnesty of the Holy Prophet (SAW) became converts to Islam.
Forgiveness as an Honor:
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (SAW) said:
“Allah increases the honor of the one who forgives.” [Sahih Muslim]
Place in Paradise:
It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abi Bin Kaab that the Messenger of Allah said:
“Whoever wants palaces to be built for him in Paradise. And raise its ranks. So he should work with forgiveness in response to oppression, grant to the loser. And treat the one who is divorced with kindness.” [Mustadrak Hakim]
It states that Allah will bless them with Paradise. Who forgive others in response to oppression.
Allah (SWT) Forgive Those Who Forgive Others:
It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin As that the Holy Prophet came to the pulpit and said: “Have mercy on the creatures, may Allah have mercy on you, and forgive you people, Allah will forgive you.” [Musnad Ahmad, Musnad Abdullah bin Amr]
Above hadith shows that Allah will forgive us If we forgive others. That’s why try to be kind and forgiving with others. So that we can get mercy, love, and forgiveness from Allah Almighty.
